Thanks to Setanta
By: rich | April 14th, 2008I didnt manage to watch the Newcastle v Portsmouth on Saturday. Setanta is just so unbeliavable useless at doing anything then i shouldnt have been surprised at the fact they couldnt provide a service that i pay for. It took them until 8 o’clock on saturday night to put up the tables on the sidebar.
Anyway, besides being sidetracked by the absolutely god-awfulness of Setanta, i did manage to catch some bits of the game at the weekend.
Apparantly we played well. We looked solid at the back and strong going forward. A reliable source (my friend Danny) told me that Martins had several opportunities to play the pass for a goal but decided to hit it into the stands instead. According to KK, David James played a blinder, and Match of the Day would most definately suggest that. Although the fantastic chance that Micheal Owen had which was saved by Jame’s HEAD, was a fluke, not really a spectacular save.
All in all, we should be pleased with a point. Fratton Park is notoriously hard to go to and we matched them in most quarters, so im pleased.
Next week, an easy three points against the Mackams. It has classic written all over it.

We did play well, and if we had scored we would have definitely been deserving of the points. Unfortunately Owen was about as dangerous as a gerbil rather than the black mamba that we need him to be (apologies to Kobe Bryant).
And your friend Danny was absolutely correct in my opinion regarding Oba. While it’s nice to see a confident striker with an eye for goal, it gets a bit tiresome when this attitude results in selfishness or tunnel vision. I would absolutely love it if Oba could grow more confident in his passing.
But at the end of the day, 1 point away against Portsmouth is a pretty decent prize, and given where we were two months ago, it’s a good result.
