shock move with Sébastien Bassong

Well, maybe my title was a trace (that’s more than a smidgen btw) sarcastic as it wasn’t shocking at all that the Magpies offered Sébastien Bassong a contract after coming over from FC Metz on a one-week trial. Sébastien accorded himself well at Doncaster (and hey, even had a few songs dedicated his way) and his £2m price-tag fits nicely in the cash-strapped budget. The athletic twenty-two year-old centre-back will be a solid addition to the squad.
