Nigel De Jong?
By: j | July 16th, 2008
An assorted group of reports are linking Nigel De Jong of Hamburger SV in the German Bundesliga and a possible move to St. James’ Park. The versatile Netherlands capped defensive-midfielder is said to be high on Kevin Keegan’s negotiation list and with a £3million asking price, he works well within budgetary confines. However while there is no questioning his abilities, work-rate and experience far beyond his years, he also has affirmed a desire to stay in Hamburg and work with new manager Martin Jol. He would naturally be a superb signing but first must be sold on the move to Newcastle.
So what’s your position on Nigel and do you think we have a chance to sign him?

This has nothing to do with nigel de jong, but I think you might be interested - Portuguese newspapers say Aimar will go to Benfica and will be presented tomorrow.
I dont know if I like the idea - He is incredibily talented, but also injury prone…Posted from

Nuno - thank you. I was reading abola as well and saw that but I just wanted to make sure with a formal announcement from the club. There have been so many rumours of this situation, its hard to know what is fact. Thanks -

I watch my share of Bundesliga and I like Nigel de Jong and I think he could be a quality Premiership player. Since we’re talking young European defenders playing in the Bundesliga, I’d also like to see them make a play for Vincent Kompany as well.
