Newcastle v West Ham match preview
By: j | January 9th, 2009The Magpies return to Premier League action welcoming West Ham to St James’ Park Saturday morn. A log-jammed table gives provides little solace for Joe Kinnear as Newcastle is only two points above the relegation zone and know they must gain points at home. For the match Newcastle will be without Habib Beye, Nicky Butt and Obafemi Martins but received a major boost when Danny Guthrie was deemed healthy following a bout with the flu and Charles N’Zogbia was equally given the green light. Longer term injuries to Alan Smith and Joey Barton are nearing the end of the line but it will be few weeks till either can be in consideration.
The Hammers are beginning to flourish in watchful hands of Gianfranco Zola and pose an exciting attack that includes twenty-year old Wales international Jack Collison. In the midst of a three match winning streak the Hammers enter the match fully-fit and eager to continue their run up the table.
West Ham manager Gianfranco Zola showed his humourous side before the match, saying:
“I’m very pleased with our away form. The team is looking solid right now and is playing well. The confidence is coming back to everybody, even to the manager!”
Enjoy the match and I will report on it as it concludes.
