Newcastle Utd 3-2 Everton

By: rich | October 7th, 2007

A late winner by returning Micheal Owen gave Newcastle the win against Everton today. Its made me quite pleased as i saw this a vital game if we wanted to live out our aspirations of finishing in the top 6.

There was also good news for Geordie fans as Nicky Butt scored a fantastic goal in the first half. The game also saw a comical late own goal by the recently reinstated number 1 keeper Shay Given. Owens’s late goal after coming on as a substitute for Oba Martins wil do wonders for his and England fans confidence.

Hopeully our momemtum will continue after the International break and we’ll be a regular fixture in the top 6 by christmas.

We wont finish top six. I think we’ve been pretty shit this year. Martins hasnt been as good as last year. I think we should sell Owen. We’d get at least 10mil and we could spent that on a really good central midfielder. I would like Flamini from Arsenal. I think he’s a propper canny player.

That would be a bold move for Newcastle United. I dont know though, if Martins doesnt perform, we’ll need Owen at some point in the season. I dont think we need a new Midfielder, what we need is a midfiled which is fit.
