I feel sorry for you. For whatever reason I have a soft spot for Newcastle ever since I first visited England, and have kept following their course. It’s a sad sight to see them falling, but I hope they’ll do a proper clear reboot and be up again soon.

j, my choices would be the ‘big names’ and the ‘reliables’ who were brought in to do what they did at their previous clubs, but instead did a little over nothing. I’m not sure who would be the ‘best’though.

Matt, I agree with you that management was poor but this well before that the finances of the club were falling apart. I began commenting of this in August or September as it was obvious they did not have the money to make the right moves.

James – I’m planning on doing a post on that but with the team being relegated it is difficult for me to really say “best and worst”. However who are your choices?

Chelsea fan here; sad to see Newcastle go down, big club with a great stadium and support. Hate to see big clubs go down, the likes of Wigan, Stoke and Hull aren’t exactly bringing anything to the premiership. But they play better football so what can you do. All the best in Championship and please don’t appoint Keegan again, he’s not the messiah!

I didn’t get a chance to see the game. I really admire the Newcastle supporters. Who do you think would be the best and the worst players of the season?

It seemed odd to me how so many good players, Coloccini and Jonas started off great and then disappeared towards the 2nd half of the season.

are you kidding man? this club was derailed by pure ineptness on the part of ashley, wise, and whoever they decided to put in charge for 15 minutes. it’s an exercise in ridiculous, horrifically bad management…not the product of the credit bubbles bursting. that’s a giant copout and the kind of copout that allows idiots like ashley and his lot to run a club that has no business even being in this sort of situation right into the toilet.
