need a good laugh?
By: j | July 27th, 2008
Have you had a rough week? Not ready to get back to work tomorrow morning and need a good laugh…well I think I have one for you.
In my rumour-wire watch The Sunday Sun is reporting Newcastle is about to launch a bid on Real Madrid’s Júlio Baptista. Now that’s not the funny part because personally I think the twenty-six year-old Brazilian would be an excellent addition and would do very well under Kevin Keegan’s leadership.
Real Madrid is apparently looking for €15m, with numerous clubs looking for his services. Newcastle’s financial situation will likely prohibit an offer greater than €9m. Whether or not the rumoured offer of the asking price by Roma is true, Newcastle is basically looking to come in at a 40% discount of (at least) €6m.
I will confirm the threshold of Newcastle’s budget (again) but unless the financial position has changed or the club is selling James Milner, they cannot raise their offer anywhere near the market price and even to make an offer of this price is a joke.

not a chance in hell this happens, but if the beast is to leave Madrid, I’d love to see him playing for the mags. As a fan of both clubs, know baptista just needs first team action to showcase his talent

I agree with you completely and just wonder who thought you’d magically get a €6m discount. I’m just hopeful the idea of selling James Milner is disappearing however with the way money is being spent a number of clubs are falling empty this transfer season. The sport has made a real mess of itself now because there are very three to four “divisions” (of quality) in each league, where a few compete for the title, a few others for European spot, others who just linger and still others who will fight the full campaign to avoid relegation.
