By: David | June 5th, 2007As summer nears, the transfer rumors are starting to heat up, especially for Newcastle. It has been announced that Mark Viduka will be singed by the Mags on a free transfer and Middlesbrough seems to be very angry about this. Espnsoccernet has stated that this is almost a done deal,
Middlesbrough striker Mark Viduka has agreed in principle to join north-east rivals Newcastle.
Soccernet understands the 31-year-old has given Boro boss Gareth Southgate the answer he was dreading and decided not to extend his stay at the Riverside Stadium.
The Magpies have been courting the Australia international for a year and now appear to have made a decisive breakthrough amid interest from West Ham, Portsmouth and Birmingham among other suitors.
Other news sources are also stating that Viduka has declined to re-sign with Middlesbrough and it will be interesting to see if this transfer goes through.
Update: It would seem that Viduka will not be participating in the Gold Cup for the Australian National Team as he wants to rest.
