Irish Call-ups
By: rich | October 2nd, 2007Stephan Carr and Shay Given have been called up to the Irish Squad to face Cyprus and Germany. Given has been Newcastle’s deputy for a majority of the start of the season after Steve Harper had a prolonged spell in charge of the Toon’s sticks.
Stephan Carr is also included, but this news will come as a boost for Shay Given who i suspect has had his confidence battered in the last few weeks.
He recently proclaimed that he was going to make the Newcastle Goalkeepers jersey his own again and in my opinion that can only mean good things for Newcastle and Ireland.
As a further note, former winger Alan O’Brien has earned a call up. O’Brien has excelled this season for Scottish outfit Hibernian.
