Emiliano Insua?
By: j | July 15th, 2008
Continuing the notion of keeping you up with all, or should I say “some”, of the dirty little rumours this summer, I’ve ventured through a series that range from reliable to completely ridiculous. This seems a bit in the “unlikely” category but maybe we can mull it over for a bit and come up with a consensus.
There has been some ruffling around that Kevin Keegan is considering making a run at Liverpool’s nineteen year-old left-back Emiliano Insua. Being quite honest when I heard this I raised a suspecting eyebrow and wondered how precisely could the Magpie’s wrestle the talented young Argentine from Liverpool. I’ve seen Emiliano play quite a bit, starting at last years U-20 World Cup in Canada and noted his tremendous potential in the first practice. Amongst a squad that included the likes of young maestro Sergio Aguero of Atlético Madrid, Pablo Piatti, who was brilliant with Estudiantes last season and Mauro Zarate who will thrill the Lazio faithful this season, Emiliano was a solidifying force in defense. Recognizing his extraordinary promise, Liverpool signed him to a three-year contract at the start of the month.
Returning to my original theme, I can’t imagine Rafa Benitez would let this extraordinary talent go without an unbelievable fight, so let’s just say I’m hopeful these rumours are true but question whether they can materialize. If for some reason he can be wrestled from the powers that be at Anfield, I am hopeful that Newcastle jumps in with gusto and begins to build the duo of he and Hungarian national Tamás Kádár. Of course, if Liverpool is interested in parting with the future, maybe Jack Hobbs could make the trip over as well and be teamed-up with Fabio Zamblera.

everything i heard was that it was only going to be a 1 year loan. I really can’t see Liverpool selling him, but a loan seems like a good idea. And you can have Hobbs.

als - thats why I posted it as such. I can’t see Liverpool selling him or even loaning however if offered, I am hopeful Kevin Keegan jumps at the chance. As far as Mr. Hobbs, he has shown very good promise and if players of this ilk are available they need to be considered wisely. So yes, we’ll take him : ) LOL
