early parole for Joey Barton denied
By: j | July 10th, 2008
Joey Barton will be spending at least another month in Manchester’s Strangeways jail as the Ministry of Justice has denied the habitual violent offender early release. Barton, had been hopeful of an early release and the chance to restart his career but that decision looks like it will have to wait. He is expected to be released now in early August.
My question to you is do you feel he should be a part of Newcastle?
Please voice your opinion but quite honestly mine is straight-forward and simple. I feel no need to be subjected to a violent criminal discrediting the Newcastle name and feel he has no place within the Premier League. His conduct is detrimental to the sport and the message it gives to children is disgusting. While some, most notably Sam Allardyce, fear Barton’s mental health and want to rush in to provide him a King’s ransom for the game of footy, I fear for the children who are subjected to those that turn a blind eye to violent criminals on the street and the enormous message that criminal activity is fine as long as you produce on the pitch. It is true Barton needs “help” but that need not come at the glorification of his ability on the pitch and should come through professional help and education beyond the game.
