Chris Hughton Sacked!

By: Aidan | December 6th, 2010

_50315623_010534871-1F*cking unbelievable. Mike “Fat Clown” Ashley has excelled himself yet again, and sacked a manager who has performed better than any of us could have hoped for.

To sack Chris Hughton with Newcastle in 11th place, having won away at Arsenal, drawn with Chelsea only last week, and had some great wins against Villa and Sunderland is nothing short of a joke.

Just what else was he meant to have done? Ok, so we’ve dropped points in matches we shouldn’t have done, but hey, so have Arsenal, Chelsea and the rest. We’ve been inconsistent, but so what? We’ve got off to a far better start than many of us expected.

Chris Hughton has shown himself to be a man of dignity and honour, and Newcastle fans will always be grateful for how he turned around a relegated side, kept morale up, got them working for each other, and came straight back up in fine style.

Chris, you deserve better and I hope you get it, good luck to you, and thanks for what you’ve done for Newcastle United.

As for Mike Ashley…did you just think that things had been going along too smoothly for your liking so you grabbed the nearest spanner and threw it? Had you missed being the league’s laughing stock? Well done Mike, you’ve reclaimed that position for us.

I’m presuming that either some contractual negotiations (or lack of) have sparked this, or simply that Ashley wanted rid all along and was merely waiting for a few defeats on the trot to do the deed. Classless.

What the hell happens now? Who on earth are we going to get in to “take us to the next level” as the clubs statement says? Ashley sure as hell won’t be supplying any spending money for whoever it is, and they will inherit a squad who were more than happy with Hughton in charge.

In the past Newcastle fans have also been accused of unrealistic expectations leading to various managerial oustings – that couldn’t be further from the truth this time. Hughton had the support of both the fans and his squad.

I’m truly astonished, and fear for what the rest of the season holds for us now.

Albion fan in peace. Although we deservedly turned you over yesterday, this is a ridiculous decision. With so many of your players missing, Ashley has just used this as an excuse to shoehorn someone else in, why? You beat us to the title last season when many thought you’d go the way of Leeds, you beat Arsenal away and lie in 11th place in the world’s toughest league. How can that be judged as failure. You lot, and Hughton, deserve better than that idiot running your club.

Clearly a reunited dream team of Kinnear/Wise is Ashley’s gift to Newcastle.

It almost makes me wish for a return of Fat Freddy, almost.

Hughton’s reign at Newcastle will be remembered for all the wrong reasons now. He will not be remembered for excelling with a team that by most standards should be slipping towards League One. He will not be remembered for taming the two hellions Joey Barton and Andy Carroll. He will not be remembered for the outstanding job he did last season by winning the Championship with games to spare. He will not be remembered for the quiet cool, and professionalism that he he displayed at all times. No, unfortunately Hughton will be remembered for this classless and inexplicable act by an ownership that seems bent on destroying the very team they claim to love.
What is more telling about this whole affair is the accolades for Hughton, coming from his peers who are disgusted by the whole thing, and by the fans of other teams, who are disgusted by the whole thing. Everyone sees this for what it is- another huge blunder by the huge blubber. Everyone, except the board. I am disappointed, and add my best wishes to Hughton- find success wherever you go sir, you deserve it.
