Andy gets the call!
By: j | January 8th, 2009Great news for Academy supporters as Andy Carroll has been tabbed by Joe Kinnear to start against West Ham this weekend and the Hull City FA Cup match. The young striker, who only turned twenty on Wednesday has looked solid on the pitch and with the added play growing in confidence.
Joe Kinnear said of Andy’s opportunity:
“Big Andy did very well at Hull and was always a handful.
“I was pleased for him as well because he’s worked extremely hard to get the opportunity.
“And he will now start in the next two games.”
Amongst a troublesome season, the development of Andy is one the best stories of the season and one the Magpies will reap huge benefits from in the future.
